In Loving Memory of Robert Jackson

With heavy hearts, family, friends, and the Macon community mourn the tragic loss of Robert Jackson, 36, who lost his life in a devastating traffic accident on Bass Road on Monday morning.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Robert was driving a Chevrolet GMT 3500 utility truck near the 1400 block of Bass Road when the fatal collision occurred. Investigators reported that he attempted to avoid a red sedan that was stopped and waiting to turn onto Westchester Drive. In an effort to prevent a crash, Robert entered the oncoming lane of traffic, where his vehicle collided with an eastbound Peterbilt 358 commercial truck. The impact caused the utility truck to overturn.

Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, Robert suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Deputy Coroner Luann Stone.

The driver of the Peterbilt truck, a 62-year-old man, was treated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
