WEST MONROE, La. — The West Monroe community is mourning the loss of local bicyclist Donald Conway, 63, following a tragic collision that occurred in the late afternoon of June 4, 2026, at the busy intersection of Cypress Street and North 7th Street.
At approximately 4:10 p.m., officers with the West Monroe Police Department responded to reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. What began as an ordinary afternoon in the city quickly turned into a heartbreaking scene that would later claim the life of a longtime resident.
Authorities say the victim, Donald Conway, 63, was traveling eastbound on Cypress Street as he made his way through the intersection. At the same time, a 2014 GMC pickup truck was traveling northbound on North 7th Street in the outside lane.
