According to the Seguin Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart located at 550 S. At this time, the extent of his injuries has not been publicly released.
Investigators later identified the suspect as 42-year-old John Wheeler of Seguin. Authorities say the suspect fled the scene following the shooting, prompting an immediate multi-agency search effort. At approximately 5:19 p.m., the suspect vehicle was located outside the city by the New Berlin Marshal’s Office.
Law enforcement agencies including Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Texas Department of Public Safety, New Berlin deputies, and Seguin Police CASE officers worked together in a low-speed pursuit that eventually came to an end in the 3000 block of FM 775. Officials confirmed that John Wheeler was taken into custody without further incident.
