SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities in Saginaw Township are investigating a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of 33-year-old Brandon Michael Armstrong Thursday evening and resulted in the arrest of a suspect on an open murder charge.
According to the Saginaw Township Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:04 p.m. on June 4, 2026, to the 4500 block of Ashwood Drive West following reports of a physical altercation involving two male individuals.
While officers were en route to the scene, dispatchers received updated information indicating that one of the men involved had been stabbed multiple times. The situation quickly escalated from a disturbance call to a life-threatening emergency.
Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious male lying in a driveway suffering from apparent stab wounds to the torso. Responding officers immediately initiated life-saving measures while awaiting additional emergency assistance. Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified as Brandon Michael Armstrong, 33, of Saginaw Township.
Investigators determined that the incident began when a male subject drove to the residence and exited his vehicle in the driveway. At some point, a physical confrontation broke out between the two men. During the altercation, authorities say a knife was produced and Armstrong was stabbed several times in the torso.
Following the stabbing, the suspect fled the area in a vehicle before law enforcement officers arrived.
As detectives began investigating the homicide, they obtained and reviewed video surveillance footage from the surrounding area. The footage reportedly captured the incident and provided investigators with critical evidence that helped identify the suspect involved.
A short time later, officers successfully located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. Authorities reported that the individual was subsequently lodged on an open murder charge pending further investigation and review by prosecutors.
Police have not yet released additional information regarding the circumstances that may have led to the confrontation or whether the victim and suspect were previously acquainted. Investigators continue to work to establish a complete timeline of events and determine the factors that contributed to the deadly encounter.
