The Columbus community is grieving following the tragic and heartbreaking deaths of 33-year-old Shalimar Green and her cherished 11-year-old daughter, Aliv’eyah Chandler, whose lives were violently taken inside their East Side residence on Wednesday evening. According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were dispatched around 7:10 p.m. to a home in the 2900 block of Chatsworth Way for a well-being check. Before first responders arrived, a family member entered the residence and discovered Shalimar and Aliv’eyah deceased inside the home. Authorities later confirmed the case is being investigated as a domestic-related double homicide.
Court records indicate that both victims suffered multiple stab wounds and gunshot wounds. Investigators later identified 33-year-old Derrick Green, the husband of Shalimar Green, as the suspect in the killings. Police stated that he left the scene before officers arrived but was later located and taken into custody peacefully by SWAT officers. He has since been charged with murder.
