Columbus Community Mourns the Heartbreaking Loss of Shalimar Green and 11-Year-Old Aliv’eyah Chandler

The Columbus community is grieving following the tragic and heartbreaking deaths of 33-year-old Shalimar Green and her cherished 11-year-old daughter, Aliv’eyah Chandler, whose lives were violently taken inside their East Side residence on Wednesday evening. The devastating loss has left relatives, friends, classmates, neighbors, and loved ones overwhelmed with sorrow as the community struggles to come to terms with a tragedy that has deeply shaken so many.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were dispatched around 7:10 p.m. to a home in the 2900 block of Chatsworth Way for a well-being check. Authorities later confirmed the case is being investigated as a domestic-related double homicide.

Investigators later identified 33-year-old Derrick Green, the husband of Shalimar Green, as the suspect in the killings. Police stated that he left the scene before officers arrived but was later located and taken into custody peacefully by SWAT officers. He has since been charged with murder.
