WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Trencent Francois, 21, of Winnipeg and a member of Nelson House First Nation, died following a violent incident at a West End residence, while 20-year-old Precious Rayne Walker has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the case, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.
Officers were called shortly after 3 a.m. on June 13, 2026, to a report of a serious incident at a home in the 700 block of Toronto Street. When police arrived, they located Francois suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders provided medical assistance at the scene before transporting him to a hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save his life, Francois later died from his injuries.
An adult woman was arrested at the residence without incident as officers secured the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation and formally identified the victim as Trencent Francois. Investigators have continued to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review information related to the case.
Police later announced that Precious Rayne Walker, 20, has been charged with manslaughter. She remains in custody as the case proceeds through the court system.
The death of Francois has prompted an ongoing homicide investigation as detectives work to determine exactly what occurred during the early morning hours of June 13. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the events that led to the fatal injuries.
