According to authorities, Fredy was spending time with friends near the shoreline of Wilson Pond, enjoying what should have been a peaceful day by the water. While swimming, he reportedly entered an area of the pond that contained a sudden and steep drop-off. His friends did not immediately realize that he had disappeared beneath the water, and precious moments passed before they recognized that something was wrong.
Once it became clear that Fredy was missing, those with him immediately sought help. Bystanders contacted emergency services shortly after 3:30 p.m. and made courageous efforts to locate and bring him back to shore.
