The Madison community is mourning the heartbreaking and untimely loss of Jacques L. Whitt, whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating traffic collision during the early morning hours of Saturday, June 13, 2026. She was just 27 years old.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:27 a.m. on Alabama 53 near mile marker 323, roughly six miles northwest of Huntsville. Authorities reported that Jacques was a passenger in a Kia Optima when the vehicle was involved in a collision with a Madison County Sheriff’s Office patrol SUV.
Troopers identified Jacques as the sole fatality in the crash. Investigators stated that the Kia was struck by a 2022 Ford Explorer driven by an on-duty Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was actively responding to a call for service with emergency lights and siren activated at the time of the incident. An intern was also riding in the deputy’s vehicle.
The impact of the collision proved catastrophic. Officials said Jacques was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The tragedy has left family members, friends, and loved ones grappling with profound grief as they come to terms with the sudden loss of a young woman whose life ended far too soon. The crash also left several others injured. The driver of the Kia, 30-year-old Mardasha D. Woods of Huntsville, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Another passenger, 31-year-old Hailey N. Tibbs of Huntsville, was also injured and hospitalized. The deputy and the intern riding in the patrol vehicle sustained injuries as well and were transported for medical care.
As news of the tragedy spread throughout Madison and the surrounding areas, an outpouring of sympathy and condolences began to emerge for Jacques’ family.
