Chicago, Illinois — Family, friends, and community members are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Latoya D. Norals, 37, who was tragically killed in a shooting on the city’s South Side near 76th Street and Eberhart.
According to police reports, the incident occurred shortly before 12:50 a.m. when officers responded to calls of two people shot inside a residence. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Latoya suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency response efforts, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 17-year-old boy was also struck by gunfire and sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. He was transported for medical treatment and is currently listed in good condition.
Preliminary information indicates that both victims were inside the home when gunfire erupted from outside, with bullets reportedly coming through a window and striking those inside. At this time, no suspects are in custody, and Area 2 Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Beyond the police reports and ongoing investigation, loved ones are left to cope with an unimaginable loss. Latoya is being remembered by those closest to her as a daughter, a loved one, and a valued member of her community whose life was taken far too soon.
